I don't think the microcode updating should be enough. Haven't You read about the problems about unsupported Tualatin pinouts by the old motherboards ? I think, You have to take a solder before updating Bios.
I myself have installed Tualatin into my BX-motherboard without any Bios patches. And it worked correctly. Certainly, I have updated Bios to the latest one. But as regards to patching... I see, it is not nesessary. At least, as the first step of Tualatin installation.
